Tickseed dyes natural fibers in orange-rust to brown-red tones. The delicate flowers can reach a height of around 80cm. The flowers, yellow-orange with dark center can be harvested regularly. Some plants bloom in a dark red color. Deadhead the flowers every few days, more flowers will pop up. Insects will be buzzing around them until autumn. If you let some flowers go to seed, they will self sow.

Choose a sunny location. Tickseed tolerates heat and drought, it thrived very well for me even in the dry, hot summer of 2018. The soil should be permeable and moderately nutritious, avoid waterlogging.

The seeds come from regional organic cultivation. They're part of the dye plant seeds kit.
